Here is a very beautiful vintage 1930's - 1940's landscape oil painting by the acclaimed California painter Charles James Gladstone Argall (1892-1960). Painted on stretched canvas measuring 16" X 20" end to end. Wonderful style, color, texture, and brushwork. Excellent conddition. VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!

 



A painter from San Jose, California, Charles Argall settled in Hollywood in 1946. He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute, the College of the Pacific in San Jose, and the Los Angeles County Art Institute. His teachers were F Tolles Chamberlain, Will Foster and Ralph Johonnet.

He was a member of the California Art Club and the Los Angeles County Art Institute Alumni Association from whom he won awards as well as from the San Fernando Valley Professors Artist Guild and the Painters and Sculptors Society. He exhibited at the California State Fair, and his work is in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum.
