THE CAT THAT KILLED THE BIRD TRIAL
1920's Folk Primitive Oil Painting
#17
Here is a very beautiful and unique early American folk primitive oil painting of the a trial of wild birds prosecuting
the cat that killed the baby bird. Look closely and you will see the Blue bird as the judge with a jury of black crows. The
monkey in the tree will be serving as the security or executioner. There is a bird in the lower right area with another baby
bird that is probably the mother birds and another baby bird is seen near the lower center edge. There is an owl perched high
ominously. This has got to be one of the cutest and most unique folk paintings we have ever had. It is signed on the reverse
with a last name that we were unable to read "Nell R. *robe(?), Long Beach California". Looks to date circa 1930's to 1940's.
Possibly 1920's. Painted on canvas board measuring 14" X 18" end to end. A prime example of American folk art at its best...
VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!
