KURT DENTON HOWE
"What many people outside the arts don't understand, is that to succeed in this profession
takes just as much discipline as it does for the CEO, Athlete, Lawyer, Doctor. In most cases it takes more, since you already
have the day job, and for your night job your calling happens to be to a discipline that we almost never feel equal to, in
which we regularly disappoint ourselves, and from which the check is always late--often by a decade or two. Define “success”
how you want, but to me it means succeeding aesthetically first." AUTHOR UNKNOWN
"My works are improvisationally executed and charged with a great deal of energy"
Kurt Denton Howe was born in San Diego, Ca in 1973. Although he has studied and is well
trained in fine art. Kurt considers himself to be a "self taught" artist. His first love is Abstract expressionism
in which he tends to lean toward the simple, quiescent images, with attention paid to surface qualities, i.e., qualities of
brushstroke and texture and the use of often huge canvases. "I try to paint a piece in which all parts of the canvas play
an equally vital role in the total work, harnessing any accidents that occur during the process of painting,
and bringing importance to the act of painting itself as a means of visual communication." "I resist explaining the
meaning of each work, not wanting words to paralyze the viewer's mind and imagination."All of kurt howe's past works are currently
in private collections throughout the United States, Central and South Americas, Europe, and Japan. Kurt volunteers teaching
art to k - 3rd grade public school children. I am completely amazed and inspired by the freedom and depth of a childs
imagination."My favorite commission pieces are for parents who want their child's artwork transformed into a piece of modern
art." Kurt Howe is a father of three and currently resides in Southern California.
