Daniel Anthony Williams-(1899-1981) -of Salinas, CA. He was a painter, jewelery maker, and jade sculptor working in the
Salinas/Monterey area for many years. His interest in gems and minerals (he was for over a decade the president of the Monterey
County Gem and Mineral Society) brought him from cutting and polishing rocks for his jewelery, to sculpting large pieces of
California jade and other minerals into animals of the region. His artistic endevers eventually led him to take up a brush,
and for the later part of his life, he painted. His mother was a Berryessa, making him a direct descendent of one of the first
european families to settle in Northern California. (Nicholas Berryessa, his great g-father, came to the SF Bay area with
the Anza Expedition in 1774). He worked in both stone and oil painting until his death in 1981
